The Academy of Medical Sciences, Pariyaram with an intention of providing opportunities to the younger generation in the field of service and employment world wide especially in India, United States, European Countries and the Gulf Countries has started a college of Nursing in 2002 to offer four year B.Sc. (Nursing) course.

The College of Nursing which began in 2002 is an important unit of ACME. The parent institution is a 1000 bedded Super Speciality Hospital which offers excellent learning experiences to the under graduate nurses in various fields. The aim of the Nursing College is drawing out of the best in the student and the all round development of the student with a view to mould them as excellent Nurses and good citizens.

Objectives:

The goal of Nursing College is to prepare Nurses who will function as generalist with beginning competencies in specialized areas of Clinical Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing administration and Nursing Research with the knowledge, ability and attitude necessary to qualify for further Nursing education and research.

The graduates will be prepared to function in a variety of settings and to able to

  • Plan and provide safe and competent care through Nursing process approach in all types of clinical and community setting
  • Provide effective health teaching, guidance and counselingAssume leadership responsibilities for planning and evaluating nursing care.
  • Work effectively as a health team member and as a good citizen.

Philosophy:

The faculty, College of Nursing, ACME, Pariyaram believes that Nursing is a profession which is based on scientific advancement and changing needs of the society. Nursing is a discipline which collaborate with other health professionals in maintaining and promoting optimum health, recovery and rehabilitation.The faculty College of Nursing, believes that the degree course in Nursing is a foundation for nursing practice, nursing education and nursing research. We believe that the course should prepare nurse for first level positions in Community, Hospital and Teaching.The members of the faculty recognize that Nursing is a profession influenced by advances in Science and Technology, and substantial portion of student's learning is acquired in the clinical area.

The faculty recognize that it is the teacher's responsibility to help the student develop pride in the profession and guide him/her with respect to her future in Nursing.

Affiliation
All the courses offered are approved by competent authority. The institution aims to offer several courses in various areas of medical science and is set to launch PG courses in near future.College is affiliated to Kannur University, established by the Act 22 of 1996 of Kerala Legislative Assembly.It is approved by Dental Council of India, which is a Statutory Body incorporated under an Act of Parliament viz. The Dentists Act, 1948 (XVI of 1948) to regulate the Dental Education and the profession of Dentistry throughout India .

Total Number of Seats - 50

Duration of the Course is four years and one year compulsory Internship in the parent Hospital.

Admission to the B.Sc. Nursing course of this Institution will be made according to the rules and regulations of this Institution and as per the directions of Government of Kerala. These are subject to change as may be considered necessary from time to time by the Institution and the Government of Kerala
